MATERNITY GOWNS - What to wear to a maternity photoshoot?

WHAT TO WEAR TO A MATERNITY PHOTOSHOOT

Deciding on what to wear is hard enough as it is. When it comes to maternity photography there is much more to consider: the weather, time of year, studio or outdoors and last but not least comfort. 

Regardless of all the choices to make, a maternity photoshoot is something you will cherish forever. 

Having the memories to look back at will be very important for you, your partner and your baby. 

1. Determine if you would like an indoor or outdoor photoshoot first. 

In the studio you can be completely topless, wear a simple bodysuit or a nice set of underwear. You have to be a little bit more careful choosing outfits for your outdoor sessions.

2. Think of the time of year it is. 

Autumn photographs would look great if you wear burgundy, mustard, brown, black and dark greens.

Summer and spring dresses should be a little bit more floaty and in lighter colours. Pastels and colours like pink, light green, teal, beige and blue would be great for this time of year. 

If you dream of winter pictures in the snow I would go for cream, white, beige and light browns. 

Black and white would look fantastic at any time of year.

3. Determine who you would like to take maternity photos with.

It can be fun to include your partner in a few of the shots too. It's not uncommon to take couple photos during a maternity shoot or even get some family photos. There is nothing quite like a photo of a big brother or sister to be snuggling the baby in your belly. If you decide to take family photos during your maternity session there is no need to stress out about everyone's outfits, just coordinate colours and fabrics that the the whole family looks similar.

4. Keep accessories to a minimal

The focus should be on your belly so make sure your jewellery is small and simple.

5. Plan a couple of outfits. 

This way you can get a variety of photographs.

6. It is always a good idea to bring a selection of underwear to your photoshoot. 

Black set, white set, nude set and strapless bras are always a good idea.
